Weight Watchers is widely known as being the world’s preeminent weight control organization and it has been in existence since 1962. Their business features a very strong and successful group support model that requires each member to attend a weekly meeting. They process their members individually and each transaction includes a weigh-in, the tracking of weight loss results and the payment of dues (meeting and registration fees). They also require the storing, sorting and organizing of sales, inventory, payroll (including commissions) and membership data.
Weight Watchers had grown by way of large, regional franchise territories. One such territory is Suffolk County, New York and the franchise owners decided to modernize their locations through automation. CompuSmart was tasked with custom designing a Point Of Sales and back office system that would communicate seamlessly thus enabling their administrative staff to efficiently manage all of their physical locations and in turn, each individual meeting, center transactions, inventory, staff hours, and other marketing related tasks.
We had done so well in this process that our software was sold to other franchise locations nationally and internationally.
Fairfield Properties (“Fairfield”) is Long Island’s premier, privately owned commercial real estate and property management company. They have been in business for more than 40 years. During that time they have accumulated a vast portfolio of both residential apartment complexes and professional office buildings while developing both a mortgage company and an insurance agency. CompuSmart has been tasked with numerous projects for Fairfield starting with the creation of a custom reporting module that interfaces with Yardi Real Estate Management Software so that columns and fields are modified specifically to the Fairfield business. Over time, CompuSmart continued to support the overall functioning of this reporting tool as Yardi rolled out later versions of their software.
As an example of other work performed for them, Fairfield most recently came to us with a need for a security and integrity audit for their Data Center to make sure they were utilizing best practices. We deployed a high level technician to perform a deep dive into their network to assess the situation. We came away with a number of helpful and important suggestions to improve bandwidth speed, reliability, scalability and security.
John T. Mather Memorial Hospital is an accredited 248-bed, non-profit community hospital. It has and will always be dedicated to providing a wide spectrum of health care services of the highest quality to the residents of Suffolk County in a cost effective manner.
The delivery of healthcare has changed dramatically since Mather Hospital first opened its doors in 1929. New surgical procedures are constantly introduced, existing procedures are improved and procedures that were once unique are now routine. Many procedures that once required a hospital stay and a long recovery can now be successfully performed on an outpatient basis. Hospital stays are shorter, but the demand for acute care is greater.
Today, more than two-thirds of all surgery is performed on an outpatient basis thus increasing the number of patients who can be treated each and every year. The challenges of their growth have been met on both a logistical and technological basis. CompuSmart has provided valuable IT services to assist Mather to assure the efficient use of their database including the design and redesign of certain key queries and the training of their staff to use SQL Server
Alan is the co-founder and owner of CompuSmart. He is a technical wunderkind, and actually taught himself programming while in high school and shortly thereafter, he single-handedly designed a POS system for Weight Watchers. In just 3 years time, while honing his IT skills by developing his career, Alan earned his degree in Business Administration from Hofstra, Summa Cum Laude. We're not sure exactly when Alan became a guru but he has while developing the most excellent people skills, a rare but extremely desirable and respected combination. Alan heads all of CompuSmart's client operations. He is a family man and runs marathons faster than anyone we know. This just might explain why we cannot get 2 seconds of his time, but yet he's everywhere and never misses a deadline or nuance when it comes to running our day-to-day business. It is weird yet amazing how he does that!
Rich is a co-founder and owner who contributes countless years of entrepreneurial experience having been the head honcho of several businesses before and even during his professional career with CompuSmart. He is our visionary and self-proclaimed wordsmith. During client brainstorming sessions Rich offers up highly creative and insightful ideas from his vantage point that often times ends up being eye opening and invaluable to our clients' business concept, image and/or operations. Rich is also the CEO at his vineyard. On the weekends, after an early tennis match, you can find him giving horse tours and sometimes sitting in with the house band playing classic rock on his bass guitar, but we must share the fact that we are quite glad that he has kept his day job!
Erik has been the CTO and an owner of CompuSmart since shortly after our inception. He graduated with a Computer Science degree from Stony Brook University and is basically "the go-to man!" There is no software project he cannot architect, and is responsible for millions and millions of lines of code. Always a sympathetic ear, he maintains an open door policy with our staff even though he is basically in architect meetings all day. We do not know how he sleeps. In his spare time, Erik, a devoted family man, is highly committed to his volunteer work, but he balances all his responsibilities with skiing in the winter and sailing to Martha's Vineyard in the summer. Fun guy, wish we could be invited along...
